Fabrication

Bisalloy400 is high hardness, abra sion resistant steel offering very good impact toughness properties.

Bisalloy400 provides an optimum combination of abrasion resistant, toughness and weldability. Due to its low alloy content, Bisalloy400 can be readily welded using conventional welding processes and low hydrogen consumables.

Cold forming of Bisalloy400 is achievable on all thicknesses although an allowance for the higher strength should be taken into account. Bending machine capabilities should also be taken into consideration prior to any forming operation. Heating above 250ºC should be avoided, otherwise mechanical properties may be affected.

Fabrication

A unique chemical composition and steelmaking process for Bisalloy450 has been developed, incorporating
low carbon/low manganese contents. This is designed to improve transverse mechanical properties and produce low levels of segregation and ensures the newly developed Bisalloy450 not only has superior mechanical properties but also good formability and weldability.

Bisalloy450 can be readily welded using conventional low hydrogen MWAW and GMAW welding consum ables and processes. It can be welded to other weldable steels.

BISALLOY 450 can be cold bent by brake press-bending or roll bend method. However, Bisalloy 450 has higher hardness and strength levels compared to plain carbon steels and therefore suitable consideration of sufficient machine, plate bending direction and former radii must be made. Bisalloy450 should be bent at room temperature or below 200ºC to avoid reduction of mechanical properties.

Characteristic

Bis-80 is a high strength, low alloy steel plate with a yield stress three times of carbon steel and featuring low carbon, excellent notch toughness, good weldability and formability.

Fabrication

Bis 80 is a low alloy high stregthsteel manufactured with a controlled carbon equivalent for optimum weldability.

Bis 80 can be successfully welded to itself and a range of other steels, provided low hydrogen consumables are used and attention is paid to pre-heat, interpass temperature, heat input and the degree of joint restraint.

Stress relieving can be achieved at 540ºC – 570ºC. Heating above this temperature should be avoided to minimize any adverse effects on mechanical properties. Cold forming can be successfully conducted, provided due account is taken of the increased strength of the steel.
